Round 2 did not disappoint as the woods of western Mississippi were prime and the weather couldn’t have been better for January. The Youth course was around 4 miles long and consisted of 5 laps. Jon Mcannally and Nathan McCoy battled for the lead early but McCoy’s race ended early leaving Mcannally being able to cruise to finish. Youth B had some lead changes going on and a lot of tight racing up front. Ensign Payne lead early but Ian Bouwens was able to get by for the win. Payne then felt pressure from K.Alexander and Grant McCoy as all 3 finished wheel to wheel in that order. Luke Conn took another win in Preteen with Vines and C Smith rounding out top 3.
The adult course was just over 5 miles long. Connor Barrett picked up where he left off from round 1 leading every lap of moto 1. Moto 2 though had a new leader on lap one as E Gregg came through with Horn and Barrett in tow. Horn would get by for the lead with Barrett and Gregg rounding out top 3 in AM overall.
Tanner McCoy and Cliff Ousley battled again for the top spot. Moto 1 included the endurox section but had to bypass it in moto 2 to avoid the creek section due to the exits getting impassable. The EX section provided plenty of spectator entertainment and was a challenge for many riders. Ousley made a late moto pass in moto 2 to take the overall with a 2-1 finish and now tied for the points lead. Cole Reese put in a 3-3 on a borrowed KTM 200 for his first podium of the year. Adam Barr went 7-4 for 4th overall and took the top spot in 250 A as Whisenant took home 5th overall with a 6-5.
Next round is in Rockford, AL on Feb 20. Don’t forget to join in on the action on Instagram for race day coverage (when there is service..)
